Congratulations on completing the survey! Below you will find your persona report which gives more insights about where your organization might be needing support and guidance in developing knowledge, skills, and values in justice and equity work. The following persona is a suggestion for where your organization may be in their journey, and it might not fully capture the needs, motivations, and/or challenges your organization is experiencing.

    Wandering Wolves

Like wolves on the move, your organization is on a journey. You are committed to learning through formal training and trying to understand what you don’t yet know. You seek relationships in community, but are looking for direction in how to deepen your commitments and connections. You may feel as though the systems and landscape of this work are overwhelming, causing your focus to sway. Wolves within your pack may be moving in different individual directions, which could be lessening your collective impact.

Want support with how to debrief the results for you and your team?

    Motivations

    • Individuals in the organization are interested in learning about equity and justice initiatives through online workshops and reading tools and resources.
    • You’re learning about your gaps in understanding through building relationships with community.

    Pain Points

    • Leaders from your organization are out in community but are overwhelmed with the fast-evolving landscape of justice work.
    • Motivated leaders are working within a rigid white supremacist system that has many gatekeepers against change.
    • Your organization lacks clear commitments that staff may prioritize capacity building in their work.
    • There may be lack of trust across team members.

    Needs

    • A network of allies who can motivate you on your learning journey and point towards practical learning or networking opportunities.
    • Consulting or collaborating with experts to receive direction on identifying less overwhelming strategic priorities with clear accountabilities.
    • More staff buy-in, commitments to time and funding to make justice and equity focus a reality.

How you interact with Justice and Equity

    • You may be going through checklists without commitments in strategic vision or plans.
    • You haven’t established reciprocity in relationships.
    • There may be resistance to change in your organization.
    • You desire to be low-barrier and inclusive in your work but may need advice on what the next steps are to move toward that.

IONS is located in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaw people. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship, which the Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik people first signed with the British Crown in 1726. These Treaties did not involve the surrendering of rights to the lands and resources they had traditionally used and occupied. We are all Treaty People.

This land is also the birthplace of Black heritage and culture in what is now known as Canada following the forcible displacement of people of African descent. As an organization and as people, we are committed to carrying out the long overdue, vital reconciliation and anti-oppression work.
