Our Story
Pathways to ActIONS was created through a shared vision between IONS and Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage (CCTH)—a vision to equip impact organizations with the tools they need to deepen their equity commitments and create lasting change.
Organizations shared the challenges with navigating existing learning resources and developing sustainable, actionable plans for justice and equity.
IONS 2022 State of the Sector survey revealed that while many organizations are working internally to advance justice and equity – primarily through recruitment and policy changes – only 17% had integrated justice and equity into their strategic goals.
The platform was shaped through collaboration with impact organizations, government partners, and community leaders. IONS conducted community research – through 30 interviews with community leaders, focus groups, and design sprints involved nearly 50 impact organizations overall – to ensure the resources and navigation tools would be local, relevant and accessible.
Backed by sector-wide collaboration from organizations, Pathway to ActIONS provides:
- Curated resources to support learning and action
- Practical tools to create meaningful change
- Guided navigation to meet organizations where they are on their equity journey
IONS is extremely grateful to the organizations, community leaders and government partners who supported this project. It has been built for community, by community in Mi’kma’ki.
